Leona LaurenLeona Louise Lewis, born on 3 April 1985, is an actor, singer, and activist of British origin. Born and raised within the London Borough of Islington, she was a student at in the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology in Croydon. Lewis achieved national recognition after she was crowned the winner of the third series of The X Factor in 2006 she was awarded an PS1 million recording contract together with Syco Music. The winner's song, an original cover to Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment like This" was a top-charting number one for four weeks on UK Singles Chart and broke an all-time record of 100,000 digital downloads within just 30 minutes. Clive Davis's label, J Records, signed Lewis to a 5-album deal for the United States. Lewis continued her success with Spirit the first studio album. It reached platinum status 10x accredited in the UK. Spirit became the fourth most-sold album in 2000, and it was also one of the top-selling UK albums. It is reported by the Official Charts Company claims that Spirit was the 21st-century's best-selling album for a debut female. "Bleeding Love" The lead single from Spirit, remained at #1 in the UK for seven weeks. The single was also one of the best-selling songs in the United Kingdom. It was also the most-sold track in the US in the year. Lewis won the Billboard Best New Artist Award next year. She released Echo in 2009 , and released "I Have You" as the movie's theme track. In 2011, Lewis released the single "Collide" in collaboration together with Swedish DJ Avicii, and her debut extended play, Hurt: The EP. The third album she released, Glassheart (2012), represented a fresh direction in music for Lewis taking on dubstep and electronic music. Lewis began recording music to her first Christmas album during her Glassheart Tour, which took between mid-2013. In the following year, Christmas with Love with Love, featuring the lead single "One more time", reached number three on the charts in the UK. Through this chart entry, Lewis became the first British female artist to break into the top five with eight singles. This was more than Olivia Newton-John's record set by seven.
